Jess-portraits, fashion

This is my first session with the beautiful Jess. Jess was referred to me by my currator Jean Webster. She is a friend of Jean's daughter Mallory. Jean's daughters Mallory and Adrienne were suppose to be part of the session but unfortunately they weren't able to come.

This was a short 50min session because of my tight schedule. I am amazed how Jess rocked this session, despite the time constraint and being our first session together.

Thanks Jess for such an amazing time and for these great photographs.

Heather soaked-Portraits

I am really amazed with my premier concept model Heather. Nothing can stop her from creating great images.

We had this really elaborate photo session planned for weeks. This will be involving 3-4 models and multiple outfit changes and the possibility of 2 other photographers on site. This will all take place 2hrs away from Winnipeg at Spirit Sands, Manitoba. Spirit Sands is Manitoba's desert, not a lot of people are aware of this location so that's why we though of doing this big production there.

Yesterday, Heather phoned me up to let me know that 2 of the models couldn't make it and that there's a forecast for rain in the afternoon. We both agreed to proceed with the 2 models and just me as the photographer.

To make this long story short... the weather forecast was right... IT POURED HARD!

Anyways... with a model like Heather...rain or shine the session goes on. Her dress was soaked and her makeup was all washed out but we proceeded with the session by the shack we stayed at while it was still raining.

Thanks H... for everything.

Just Before the Rain-Landscapes, Fine Art

This is a nice treat for me... this is my first landscape/fine art album in about 2 months. I've been so busy with people photography that I haven't really had time to do my personal fine art images. Yesterday I had a client that really gave me the boost of confidence to revisit fine art photography. He was giving me compliments by referring me to really amazing landscape artists. I know that I do create really cool fine art photos but I do have to admit that I do still strive to be even better. To me... there's always room for improvement, I always look for ways to step it up a notch.

Lately with portraits and weddings, I just don't have time to just head out and create personal photographs. I try to do some photos before and after the session but I haven't even had the chance to prepare those. This album is special to me because this location is a place I've visited 2 years ago but went the other side(The Dunes). This time we(Heather, Dom and Kim) walked the 7kms hike to visit the Devil's Punchbowl of Spirit Sands, Manitoba. This is Manitoba's desert and not a lot of Manitobans even heard of it. I knew the place because I've been there before with my currator and good friend Jean Webster.

The forecast for the afternoon was 70% chance of precipitation. I always base it on how the clouds look. Early this morning I got a call from Heather just confirming the participants for our concept session and that by 10am we should be heading out of Winnipeg. The Spirit Sands is about 2hrs drive and we just didn't want to be there very late in the afternoon. We never even thought of the weather forecast, because the skies looks like it was just cloudy. We arrived at the site at 1pm and proceed to walk towards the Devil's Punchbowl and as we were half way through the 3.5kms hike the clouds seems so dark and that was a really bad indication of rain. It was a bit late to turn around so we just took the chance and still went on towards the location. Then .6kms left the rain just poured and we all got soaked but still having fun.

Here are some of my fine art images just before the rain poured really hard.

Erica Castaneda-portrait, headshot

This is a quick session for my good friend, magazine publisher Erica Castaneda. She called me up for a headshot for her editorial article. I have been working with Erica for almost a year now and I love working with this beautiful and very talented woman. I am a freelance photographer for her magazine and I am looking forward to a long future working with her.

Here's a 15 min headshot session just right after we proof read the magazine before sending it out for printing.

This is available light photography and was done at the coffee shop where we met up for our afternoon meeting.

Ann 2nd Session-Portrait, Fashion

Ann is a Filipino, Winnipeg based model. It is such pleasure to work with this very talented model. She is so used to being in front of the camera that each pose is so effortlessly executed. I have a vision in mind and she can no doubt bring it to reality. I had my first session with Ann a couple of months ago, it was so much fun that she called me up for a follow up session. Ann is in the process in updating her portfolio and I am very lucky to be working with her to add new "hot" photographs in her binder.

This is such a fun session... THANKS ANN... always a pleasure and an honor.
