www.dgzphotos.com is super cool

After months of revisions...and a full month of putting the whole new interface in place, I am happy to say that my hardwork on my website has paid off. I might be bias but a few people do agree that its a very cool site...slick as a few described it.

Check it out if you haven't had the chance...

I also launched a separate landscape and other artistic photographs website to concentrate my main site for my weddings and portraits portfolio.

A Winter Walk by the Woods

It was a long time since I've been to Birds Hill Manitoba. It was such a treat that my good friend Karen Webster invited me to go for a day trip. We went to Birds Hill just to see what's out there in the winter. It was such a relaxing walk...and blessing that it wasn't so cold out that day.

Here's some of my faves.

Jessica Pike - Fashion Shoot 2011

My first 2011 session with the beautiful Ms. Jessica PIke. Jess is a model I always look forward to work with not only of her modeling prowess but also of her cool stories. This needs to be a "bang" to start the new year and she came prepared. A fashion haute couture session and it's like pages from a Valentino ad., Jess you rocked this shoot.

Jess is a model that turns on cue...and holds poses so effortlessly. I enjoy working with her and I hope to get another shoot scheduled soon. We have to scout more indoor locations since -44 weather is not too good for us both... lol.

Thanks Jess for such an amazing shoot.

A Moment in Time - Ruth & Jackson's Wedding

There are photographs that are just worth a thousand words... "A moment in time".. Photographs links us to pivotal moments in time, may it be in science, politics and specially our own lives. My brand of wedding photography is about capturing a moment and making it into an artwork. Subtle emotions in life tells the greatest stories, something that needs no further explanations or elaborations. A crying mom is quite common in a wedding but seeing a dad cry is not uncommon but for me it's much more emotional.

Here's one of my personal favorites, a photograph I captured in Ruth & Jackson's wedding. I loved the original capture but can be greatly improved as my good friend and mentor Chris pointed out. As Chris mentioned the emotions was well captured but the background elements are quite distracting in making it a portfolio worthy image. I was determined to work on this image since I absolutely love the emotions in it. Personally I love monochrome images, specially such an emotional scene, so first thing I did was to remove the colors. Then I just recomposed by cropping the original image to remove as much unwanted elements in the scene.

The image is still not perfect others might say...but it is after all "A moment in time", it was not staged...it was captured as the story unfolded. A photographer once bragged to me... "they don't capture moments they create it"... he explained that they stage the kiss, and other emotional interactions to make it picture perfect for their $,$$$ albums. I still firmly believe that stories are best told as how it actually happened, emotions are as real as it gets and therefore a sincere photograph.

Here's the original capture...

Crystals by Christine - Commercial Shoot

Here's one of Winnipeg's very own up and coming bead jewellery designer/maker, Christine Turk. Her work is high end bead jewellery, working with pearls and Swarovski Crystal Elements strung in sterling silver, gold-filled or karat gold wires.

Some cool stuff indeed.... here's one of her more elaborate creation.
