Ann 2nd Session-Portrait, Fashion

Ann is a Filipino, Winnipeg based model. It is such pleasure to work with this very talented model. She is so used to being in front of the camera that each pose is so effortlessly executed. I have a vision in mind and she can no doubt bring it to reality. I had my first session with Ann a couple of months ago, it was so much fun that she called me up for a follow up session. Ann is in the process in updating her portfolio and I am very lucky to be working with her to add new "hot" photographs in her binder.

This is such a fun session... THANKS ANN... always a pleasure and an honor.

Tim Walker 2nd Session

This is my second session with the very talented actor/model Tim Walker. Our first session was such a success we had to do a follow up session. It is such a pleasure and an honor to work with someone that is so used to being in the front of the camera.

This session is also my real life test for my new "walk around" camera the Olympus EP1. I used it mounted with the OM converter and I had my Zuiko OM 50mm f1.8 attached. I choosed the 50mm f1.8 OM because of the easier focus than my 50mm f1.4 OM. You might be wondering why bother with manual focus lenses??? Simple, the EP1 is so slow and very inaccurate in autofocus specially with my 4/3rd lenses. I really didn't want to do a session with the micro 4/4rds kit lens, so I choosed to use my OM lenses.

I also brought along my pro kit... the Olympus E3 with the fantastic 50mm f2 Zuiko, as a reference camera. I shot some poses with both cameras seconds apart just to compare colors and detail. My experience with the EP1 was so positive that I see myself using it more and more for portrait work. The manual focusing gave me more control and pays tribute to my Olympus OM2s and my entire OM system. Om lenses are amazing...sharp, contrasty and the color rendition is sometimes even better than the modern pro lenses from Zuiko. With the Olympus EP1 and my Zuiko OM prime lenses I can reduce the weight I have to carry on my sessions and I don't compromise quality at all.

Thanks Tim for these amazing images... looking forward to more sessions ahead.

Heather in Pinawa

When Heather and I started working together, we were both in our learning stages.. it is great to see that we both progressed in our fields. I was a landscape artist in the days before Heather and she always was a big fan of my work. Back in May 2009, we had our very first photo session together. It wasn't really much of a photoshoot... it was more just like a day at the park. Heather and I had lots of photo sessions in 2009, concept sessions that we both learned from. She is such an amazing model to work with, always prepared for the shoot and never missed a session yet. I am very thankful for her as my premier concept model, I can't ask for anyone better. I've worked with various other models and talents but Heather's work ethic is unsurpassed.

On this session in Pinawa, I never anticipated that I will test Heather to her limits not only as a model but also as an athlete. We both scaled rocks just to reach our first 2 locations, it was so remarkable that she climbed those rocks in her high heels and her dress. It wasn't easy for me too, trying to balance myself with my camera equipment. It was so challenging yet FUN at the same time.

It may not show that Heather went through all these challenges just to produce these images. Trust me I can't even imagine having someone else with me that day, I thought she would simply say..."nah I can't do this". Heather is such a trooper that we went down to the river banks and climbed the highest point of those rocks. To top it all off... it was raining for a good part of our session, thanks to Olympus' weather sealed E1 body and my 50mm f2 Zuiko and 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 Zuiko.

Amazing H... looking forward to working more with you.

Heather in Pinawa set 2

This is our second set from our Pinawa session. Heather is always up for anything in terms of modeling, that is the greatest asset a model can have. Nothing stops Heather from creating great images... and this was literally a full day 5hrs photo session and up to the very end she produced stunning images.

Thanks so much H., it is always a pleasure and an honor working with you.
